Senior Estimator

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction estimating, with a deep understanding of both conceptual and final estimates. This role demands proficiency in managing complex bid delivery methods, including GMP/negotiated contracts and lump sum competitive bids. Expertise in the local subcontracting market and the ability to nurture strong professional relationships are key to success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Evaluation & Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of project plans, specifications, and bid documents to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project requirements and scope.
- Cost Estimation: Lead the development of accurate and detailed labor, equipment, and material cost estimates. Prepare and update conceptual estimates, as well as refine project budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
- Bid Analysis & Subcontractor Negotiation: Analyze and evaluate competitive subcontractor and supplier bids. Negotiate subcontracts and terms to ensure cost-effective solutions and align with project goals.
- Budget Management: Provide continuous oversight and updates to project budgets, ensuring alignment with established cost structures and financial goals.
- Client Interaction & Communication: Engage with clients and stakeholders, attending site visits and meetings to ensure transparency, manage expectations, and resolve any estimation-related queries or concerns.
- Final Estimate Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and precise final construction estimates that align with the overall project budget and ensure financial viability.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, architects, and subcontractors to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction industry with a focus on estimating, including expertise in both conceptual estimates and final construction estimates.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and OnScreen Takeoffs software. A solid understanding of construction delivery methods, including GMP/negotiated and lump sum contracts.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and convey complex information to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to develop and maintain lasting relationships with architects, subcontractors, and clients.
- Problem-Solving & Leadership: Strong analytical thinking, creative problem-solving abilities, and leadership skills to guide teams and drive successful project outcomes.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

- In-depth knowledge of local subcontracting market dynamics and trends.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under tight deadlines.
